    With a background in mechanical engineering, Alvise Cavallari  spent nearly 20 years in the machine industry, in particular equipment for packaging printing and equipment for laser cutting.

    Then three years ago he “jumped the fence” and moved from B2B to B2C, joining Nestlé in R&D for packaging. Putting into contribution his understanding of the printing world, he is now heading a global initiative -cross businesses and across applications- whose scope is to understand, promote and drive the potential of digital printing and finishing for our businesses.

    An innovator and product conceptualizer, Mr. Allred has worked with inkjet technology for over 35 years, in a variety of technical, marketing, and business leadership positions.  He holds patents in inks, inkjet systems, inkjet applications, and inkjet materials.  Mr. Allred has been working with inkjet and packaging from the early days of inkjet at Iris Graphics (a Scitex Company), Accent Color Sciences (one of the first inkjet integrators), through the more recent times with Kodak (bringing Prosper technology into packaging and various applications).  After a very brief retirement this past summer from Kodak, Mr. Allred returned to the inkjet community with Memjet to help expand the business with the introduction of the newest Memjet technology, DuraLink.

She is passionate about customer experience and retail-tainment, colour consistency and ecologically mindful solutions to print and manufacture.

  • Nick Campbell

    Director of Technology Screen GP IJC Ltd., UK

    Nick Campbell studied Physics at Cambridge University and completed a Ph.D. in Engineering.  He has worked for technical consultancies, an electron microscope manufacturer and a simulation software company.  Since 2002 he has worked at Inca Digital Printers Ltd as a project manager and system architect.  More recently he has been seconded to work for Screen GP IJC Ltd on a joint development project with BHS Corrugated.  He is the system architect of the single pass print engine used for inline printing onto liner paper for the manufacture of corrugated board.

    More than 20 years of experience in Development, Packaging and Decoration in Cosmetics at L'Oreal on Skincare, Make Up and Perfumes (Most iconic launches I realised on perfume category was Viktor & Rolf (flowerbomb), Diesel (Fuel for Life, Only the Brave), Armani (Aqua di Gioia) and M. Martin Margiela Untitled).

    I am currently in charge of the Finishing and Printing Expertise for L'Oréal worldwide.

    Meaning that my team and I  work on all the Finishing technologies (metallization, hot stamping, pad printing...) and Printing technologies (offset, Flexo, cold stamping, digital...) for all materials and packaging components as glass bottles, plastics caps or bottles, cardboard, sleeves and labels.

    Our objectives are to set rules & educate, to improve the process and to capture our future for these technologies to serve the Quality, Time to Market and Agility that L’Oréal business need by working with all of our suppliers.

    Nowadays, Decoration is one of the key factor for the brands/consumer especially in terms of perceived value. It is also a way of product differentiation among all the product ranges and an increasing part of the packaging costs.“

    Yves has a background in Supply Chain Management and has been working for Danone for 13 years. He has held several supply chain roles within Danone's business units (dairy, early life nutrition, medical nutrition) where he worked closely with the companies factories and brands. The last 5 years he has been working within Procurement with a strong focus on Packaging.

    In the beginning of  2017, Yves started a new role within the Packaging Procurement organisation, to manage the Category of Packaging printing Upstream. Within this role he supports the business on strategies and projects related to printing of packaging. Specifically related to digital printing, Yves is supporting global and local brands on their activations.

  • Jon Harper-Smith

    Business Development Manager Fujifilm, UK

    Jon Harper-Smith is the business development manager for Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems, and is responsible for the digitisation of new markets.  A key focus is to drive ink jet development of industrial and package printing markets.

    Jon has a strong technical and commercial background that has enabled him to develop and grow a number of international businesses. He worked for many years for Sericol before their acquisition by Fujifilm and has a wide experience of ink and print technologies, specialising in industrial print and conversion processes.

  • Jan De Roeck

    Director Solutions Management Esko, Belgium

    Jan De Roeck (°1966) leads and coordinates the market research and market visibility activities at Esko. From its headquarters in Gent, Belgium, Jan is actively involved in the creation of value proposition content supporting the go to market process for Esko solutions comprising software, hardware and services for the packaging, display and printing industry. Jan’s primary focus goes to content creation, market research, market visibility (CRM) and corporate strategy formulation.

    With a general printing and pre-press background and a specialization in graphic design, Jan began in 1989 with Barco as application specialist for digital image retouching. In his many years with the company, Jan held various product management and marketing positions, developing a particular interest, acumen and experience in solutions and workflows for the Packaging and Label Industry. Since early 2006, Jan holds the position of Director Solutions Management. At Esko, Jan is highly respected and trusted for his insight in the graphic arts industry and his level of understanding customer workflows and market requirements. Jan is a frequently asked speaker and moderator at various international seminars, events and trade conferences and represents Esko at different professional trade associations.

    Jan holds a degree from the Hoger Instituut voor Grafische Opleidingen (Higro), Grafische Vormgeving en Zeefdruk (Graphic Design and Screenp Printing). He complemented his graphic arts education with management training programs at the Ghent-Leuven Vlerick Business School where he completed the Advanced Management Program in 2007.

  • Maximilian Mark

    Maximilian Mark was born in 1986. He studied economics and engineering at the University of Applied Siences of Weiden and started as a R&D engineer at BHS in the year 2011.
    He is into digital printing from day one at BHS and built-up a team for research and process development in that area.

    Since mid of last year he has took over the responsibility for product management for the upcoming digital printing solution of BHS as well and is doing his best to set the right development targets for a tailor-made product for the corrugated board market.

  • David Reid

    David has worked across the print industry for over 30 years. His early career was as a pre-press lithographic specialist and then a test printer. In 2000, David moved into the Ink Industry as a UV Flexo Technical Sales Manager and progressed into commercial and business management roles across Lithographic, Flexographic and Screen printing inks as Sales Manager for Sun Chemical Ireland. In 2017, David gained and Executive MBA from Ulster University and moved into the SunJet Digital Inks business with Sun Chemical as Global Sales Manager, serving Sun’s OEM customers across the globe.

  • Mike Ring

    Michael V. Ring (born in 1965) is the Vice President of Digital Solutions & General Manager of the Gallus Labelfire 340 at Gallus Ferd. Ruesch AG which is part of the Heidelberg Group.

    Ring has thirty years of demonstrated success in management, sales, marketing, and international business.  He has extensive experience in achieving market share objectives, sales growth targets and timely product development by building and motivating high-performing teams. Ring was the former President of Xeikon America, and has held leadership positions at Kodak, Georgia Pacific and Xerox.

    Additionally, he has been a board member for both Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) and the Association for Print Technologies, formally NPES where he was Chairman. Furthermore, he has been inducted as a member of the industry’s prestigious Soderstrom Society.

    He completed his undergraduate work at Providence College and has done graduate work at both Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and Harvard Business School.

    Married and father of one son, Ring is a resident of Switzerland and lives with his wife in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

  • Sean Smyth

    Sean Smyth has spent over 25 years in the industry in senior technology positions for a variety of print businesses across the supply chain, in hands on and consultancy roles. He helps companies make money through the appropriate use of technology.

    Sean has a deep knowledge of the global print market, and a key member of the team providing quantitative market data and forecasts for the printing, paper and packaging industry. He authors off-the-shelf market studies and provides strategic consultancy services to a range of clients across the value chain.

    Sean has a strong background in appropriate application of technology to print, implementing digital print systems, MIS and workflows to take time and cost out of the print supply chain. In 1994 he became Technical Director of Rexam, where the first colour digital presses in the UK were installed and he has extensive experience of digital printing. He has written many books and market studies on the future, print technology and digital print, including Smithers Pira's flagship title "The Print & Production Manual" and the "Future of Global Print Markets".

    He has held senior management roles for several large and small print and print management companies where he applied systems and technology to improve efficiencies.   • Gilad Tzori

    Gilad is a veteran with over 30 years’ experience in the print industry. He began his career in R&D at Indigo, rising to manage the development of the product portfolio. Following his passion for a more market-facing role, he moved to lead the worldwide Service team at Indigo, overseeing its transition to a more responsive, customer-focused organization.

    One of the first people approached by Benny Landa when setting up Landa Digital Printing, Gilad has been in charge of product strategy since the beginning, defining and championing a portfolio of products, based on Landa’s Nanographic printing process, that meet the real challenges of today’s commercial printers and packaging converters.

    Wolfram Verwuester is a print and business expert with more than 20 years’ experience in the graphics art and packaging industry. Wolfram is the global Segment Director of Durst Digital Technology, a leading and trusted specialist for industrial inkjet applications. He manages the strategically important Segment of Corrugated Packaging & Display Printing within the Durst Group.

    Prior to his career at Durst Group, Wolfram was Sales Director DACH and then seven years as Business Director at Esko, a member of the global science and technology enterprise Danaher, a NYSE Fortune 200 company.   • Ed Wiegend

    Ed Wiegand is currently the President of JetFx Inc, a new print engine technology company delivering digital printing embellishments to multiple markets.. He has accumulated 30 years of skills with advanced experience in the Packaging Industry.. 

    Ed Wiegand served as Executive Vice President of Sancoa International & TubeDec LLC, a world class New Jersey-based label and tube manufacturer. He was involved in the formation of TubeDec in 2004. Throughout his career Wiegand has been named to five U.S. patents from both industries

    In 2006, Wiegand was named VP of Sales and managed top accounts that included Proctor & Gamble, L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson and others. Two years later he was responsible for the start-up of new digital business. More recently, he helped manage the global expansion strategy with the company’s chairman and led strategy for new developments and technology.

    He sits on HP Indigo’s Global Advisory Board for Packaging that helps create the strategies and solutions for the digital print industry. He was a member of the Digital Solutions Cooperative (Dscoop) North American advisory board between 2013 and 2016. Dscoop is the largest digital users group in the world. Wiegand is an accomplished speaker, participating at several Flexographic Trade Association (FTA), Tags and Labels Manufacturer Institute (TLMI) and (Dscoop) functions.
