Adobe completes €700 million purchase of Fotolia

Adobe has moved to strengthen the position of its Creative Cloud platform after it announced it had received regulatory approval to complete the acquisition of Fotolia.

Fotolia is an online repository with over 34 million digital images, graphics and videos. These are sold at prices significantly cheaper than some other photo purchasing websites. The creative software company has paid $800 million (€700 million) for New York city-based Fotolia in a deal first announced on 11 December 2014.

Its catalogue of stock images will now be integrated as a stand-alone service within Adobe’s Creative cloud service for graphics and print industry professionals.
